Eve is a sweet, sensitive girl with a gentle spirit. She has been through a lot and is looking for a forever family that she can count on. She was a stray that found her way to a home that was not much better than being homeless. She was abandoned, along with several other Beagles and left behind in extreme conditions. Prior to being rescued, Eve did not have the opportunity to experience humans that could be trusted to care for her and keep her safe.
This situation has contributed to Eve being timid and a bit skittish. It takes her a little time to warm up to new people and situations. While still being incredibly sweet and adorable, it is likely she will be withdrawn at first. Love, patience, reassurance, and some tasty treats are the way to her heart. Each day of a consistentroutine offers her the opportunity to feel safe and secure. Eve will do best in a calm, reassuring environment where she can blossom at her own pace. She adores being showered with love and a nice massage and belly rubs are always welcomed. She totally melts into blissful relaxation when receiving loving, human touch. She has not been interested in interactive play so far, but she enjoys having some toys and bones around for her chewing pleasure.
Eve is currently in foster care as an only dog; however, we believe that the transition to her forever family willbe supported by a confident, friendly dog companion who can show her the ropes and help her adjust more quickly to her new surroundings. While she has been very gentle with children, we feel that Eve would do best in a home where the children are older… as she is sensitive to noises and sudden movements.
Eve is content to be in a crate; however, she has done great being left alone and not in a crate. She has not experienced separation anxiety. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. She had double bilateral cherry eye that was surgically corrected.
Eve is approximately 2 years old. She enjoys both playful spurts and lounge time. She weighs 27 pounds; however, she is long and lanky… so looks a bit on the thin side.
New adventures can be a bit scary for Eve, so patience is required. It took her a little time to feel safe venturing out for walks, so she will need a secure, fenced yard to do her business and have some fun zoomies in the meantime.
Eve has progressed beautifully in her foster home in Oregon where she has the space and freedom to be her Beagle self and follow her nose wherever it takes her… within reason of course (we discourage exploring blackberry bushes and rolling in deer poop). She now enjoys quiet, peaceful leash walks where she can take in all the smells and relax. She is not a puller, just an explorer. Eve is more of a country dog vs. a city dog. A quieter neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle suits her best.
She had one (unexpected) up-close encounter with a cat, and she was not reactive. She is also not bothered by scampering chipmunks and squirrels on her walks.
Eve is truly a special girl that wins over everyone’s heart as soon as they meet her. Her sweet nature and calm demeanor make her simply irresistible. Did we mention… she has the cutest full body wiggle! Eve deserves to live her best life with a forever family that will love her and keep her safe. Are you ready to welcome Eve into your heart and home?
Please note: Our rescue is foster-based and cannot hold dogs for future adoption due to travel, home renovations, or schedule changes. Adopters must be prepared to welcome their new companion within a reasonable timeframe.
We do our best to ensure every dog is as healthy and prepared as possible, but we ask adopters to understand that rescue dogs may need time to decompress and adjust. They are not perfect — they are simply in need of patience, understanding, and a second chance.
