Thinking of rehoming your dog?

We know that sometimes life happens and people find themselves unable to properly care for their dog. Our greatest fear is that someone will feel so desperate that they consider giving or selling their dog to a stranger.  Without the required references and home checks performed by rescue groups, dogs run the risk of being placed into unhealthy and abusive homes. We want to ensure your loved one gets the home they deserve.

Before you give away or sell your dog, we may be able to help you find solutions that will allow you to keep your beagle as a member of the family. While we can't guarantee miracles, we do have experience dealing with a multitude of issues and can certainly offer suggestions and alternatives to giving up your Beagle.

However, if there is no other alternative, we are honored that you would allow us to help find the next perfect home for your beagle. Complete the Rehome Application below and our Intake Coordinator will reach out to you.

Criteria to rehome your dog to Seattle Beagle Rescue

We understand that sometimes despite best efforts it is necessary to rehome your dog. In this case, we feel the best solution is for Seattle Beagle Rescue to move the beagle to our rescue and find them a new, loving home.

Based on urgency and foster home space availability, Seattle Beagle Rescue does take in beagles rehomed by their owners. Please understand that because we have very limited resources, it is sometimes necessary for us to prioritize the beagles we take into rescue. Shelter dogs in danger of being euthanized are given first and top priority. Then, owner rehomes are considered next, on a case-by-case basis. Please be patient with us and we will do our best to work with you to ensure the safety and well-being of your dog.

Rehoming your pet to Seattle Beagle Rescue is a permanent decision.

Seattle Beagle Rescue knows that rehoming your dog is a very difficult decision, but sometimes - it is the only one to make. If you choose to rehome your beagle, you'll be asked to complete a rehome contract to place your dog in foster care, if we have space to move to the dog to a foster home. Your signature on this contract represents a permanent decision on your part. This legally binding contract gives full ownership of the beagle to Seattle Beagle Rescue. This allows us to provide veterinary care and down the road, legally adopt out the beagle to a carefully pre-screened 'forever' home. If your dog remains in your home while we are searching for a good adopter match, you will be asked to sign the rehome contract upon final adoption of your beagle.
