Meet Dexter!

Dexter is a handsome 7-year-old beagle weighing approximately 35 pounds who is looking for a fresh start and a family to call his own.

When Dexter came into rescue, his former owner provided a list of behavioral quirks as their primary reason for needing to rehome him. However, since arriving in his foster home in the St. Louis area, his foster has not observed any of the concerning behaviors that were described. Instead, they've gotten to know a sweet dog who is settling in nicely and enjoying the comforts of foster care.

One thing that was immediately apparent when Dexter arrived was that he was absolutely covered in fleas, which had caused significant itching and some hair loss. After several weeks of good care, proper flea treatment, and lots of TLC, Dexter is already looking and feeling much better. He still has some mild itching, so he recently received an allergy shot to help keep him comfortable while his skin continues to heal.

Dexter has tested negative on his 4DX test and has already received his initial vaccines. He is scheduled to be neutered on June 24 and will receive his vaccine boosters on July 1. Once his veterinary care is complete, he'll be ready to make the trip to Seattle in search of his happily ever after.

We're still getting to know Dexter and learning more about his personality, preferences, and ideal home. As his foster family continues to spend time with him, we'll update his profile with more information.

For now, we can tell you that Dexter is enjoying the good life, feeling better every day, and deserves a family willing to give him the love and stability he's been waiting for.
