Alvin is a sweet, friendly, gentle Beagle boy weighing about 22 pounds, and he is looking for a special home where he can be loved, understood, and comfortable.
Alvin originally came to us as part of the June Operation Frodo transport from Omaha, arriving alongside his two brothers, Simon and Theodore.
Alvin came from a breeder, where his future was uncertain. Unfortunately, many breeders do not prioritize the long-term health and well-being of the puppies they produce. A genetic test later confirmed that Alvin has two copies of the gene associated with Musladin-Lueke Syndrome (MLS), a condition that affects connective tissues, including tendons and ligaments.
For Alvin, this means he walks on the tips of his toes rather than on the pads of his feet. As a result, hard surfaces such as concrete sidewalks and roads can be difficult and uncomfortable for him.
Alvin was adopted into a wonderful home, but it has become clear that his current apartment lifestyle isn't the best fit for his needs. Living in an apartment means long walks on cement to get outside, and Alvin would be much more comfortable in a home with plenty of soft surfaces, especially grass, where he can walk safely and comfortably.
Alvin is an incredibly sweet and gentle boy who has plenty of personality packed into his smaller Beagle frame. He is friendly, affectionate, and absolutely loves his treats!
A few things you'll quickly learn about Alvin:
Alvin doesn't need someone to feel sorry for him. He needs someone who will understand his condition, make a few thoughtful accommodations, and appreciate what a wonderful dog he is. A home with a securely fenced yard and plenty of grass or other soft surfaces would be ideal. Alvin likes other dogs but a very energetic rough-housing dog might not be the best fit.
Despite the challenges he has faced at such a young age, Alvin is still a happy, loving boy with so much to give. He deserves a family who will look beyond his medical diagnosis and see the sweet little Beagle who just wants to be loved — and maybe receive a few cookies along the way.

Please note: Our rescue is foster-based and cannot hold dogs for future adoption due to travel, home renovations, or schedule changes. Adopters must be prepared to welcome their new companion within a reasonable timeframe.
We do our best to ensure every dog is as healthy and prepared as possible, but we ask adopters to understand that rescue dogs may need time to decompress and adjust. They are not perfect — they are simply in need of patience, understanding, and a second chance.
