Bean was rescued from a medical testing lab two years ago when he was one year old. He was quite traumatized. He is much better now, but is still scared of boisterous children and men. He does warm up to strangers in time. Bean is feeling comfortable in his home, loves snuggles, playing, and running around. He is a sweetie. He is not perfect - while he does know to 'do his business' outside, he still will on occasion do it in the house (it's so much warmer there in the winter!). An adopter will need to dedicate some time to reinforcing the outside only rule by taking him out on a regular schedule. He and the other beagle in the home had a bit of a rough start, but worked out their differences after a few months. Unfortunately, now after 2 years, he no longer tolerates the other dog, exhibiting resource guarding and starting fights. This could be due to insecurity on his part, or a desire to assert dominance. Either way, Bean would do best as the only pet in the home. Do you have a soft spot in your heart for a fun and loving, but possibly insecure, beagle boy?
Please note: Our rescue is foster-based and cannot hold dogs for future adoption due to travel, home renovations, or schedule changes. Adopters must be prepared to welcome their new companion within a reasonable timeframe.
We do our best to ensure every dog is as healthy and prepared as possible, but we ask adopters to understand that rescue dogs may need time to decompress and adjust. They are not perfect — they are simply in need of patience, understanding, and a second chance.
