Meet Dexter!

Hi there! I’m a sweet, 7-year-old, 35-pound cuddlebug looking for a cozy home with a loving family to call my very own.

My foster family says that I am a total sweetheart. I am all about the love, snuggles, and gentle affection. I do have a sensitive soul, which means I am skittish in new or busy situations. I’m looking for a patient, understanding family who will give me the space, time, and gentle encouragement I need to build my confidence and feel secure. 

Head into the great outdoors, and my inner Beagle adventurer shines! I absolutelylove long peaceful walks. My nose is my personal superpower, and every trail, tree trunk, and patch of grass holds a grand mystery just waiting to be solved.  Because fast traffic, loud noises, and lots of commotion are overwhelming for my sensitive side … quiet, low-traffic neighborhood streets or tranquil nature trails are my sweet spot for daily outings.

Once our outdoor exploration is complete and I’ve had my fill of adventures for the day, it's time to clock out.  Give me a plush, comfortable spot with my favorite cozy blanket, and I will happily curl up and nap the day away right by your side.

I prefer to be the only pet in the household, and I promise to bring enough love to fill the whole house! I like knowing that I’m your main guy, and in return, I’ll shower you with 100% of my love and devotion.  

I do well with older, calm children who understand my gentle nature. Because loud noises, sudden movements, and rowdy play can startle my sensitive spirit, a peaceful home environment is important. I love being near my people, and having respectful, easygoing kids around who honor my space would help me feel comfortable, safe, and happy.

Speaking of being near my people … long stretches of solitude are tough on my sensitive heart. I feel best when I can hear the comforting rhythm of my home and know someone is nearby. I will need that deep sense of security to truly unpack my bags, relax, and settle in.

Please note: Our rescue is foster-based and cannot hold dogs for future adoption due to travel, home renovations, or schedule changes. Adopters must be prepared to welcome their new companion within a reasonable timeframe.

We do our best to ensure every dog is as healthy and prepared as possible, but we ask adopters to understand that rescue dogs may need time to decompress and adjust. They are not perfect — they are simply in need of patience, understanding, and a second chance.
