Meet Gertie – The Playful, Blanket-Loving Pup Looking for Her Forever Home!
Gertie, at 24.9lbs, is a sweet and playful girl who can’t wait to find her forever family! She came to the Regional Animal Shelter of King County as a stray with her friend Wilma. She’s currently healing from a mild case of kennel cough, which she developed in the shelter, but she's on the mend and will be ready for her new home in a couple of weeks. Gertie has already been spayed, microchipped, and received her rabies vaccine on 3/1/2025, along with Bordetella and DA2PP on 2/24.
This adorable pup absolutely loves attention! One of her favorite things in the world is curling up under a blanket next to a human – she’s all about that cozy snuggle life. When she’s not in blanket mode, Gertie is a fetch enthusiast! Throw a ball, and she’s ready to chase it down, but maybe not really bring it back.
Gertie gets along great with both cats and dogs. She’s especially excited about meeting other pups – she recently was on a walk outside when a Great Dane walked by, and she was absolutely thrilled! She’s well-behaved with her current 6-foot fence, but we can’t say for sure how high she might jump, so supervision is always a good idea when she’s outdoors.
Although she loves other animals, Gertie would also be perfectly happy as the only dog in her home, as she lives for human companionship and interaction.
