Gus is a SBR alumni! He was adopted in 2016 at the age of 11 months. Sadly, his adopter recently passed away unexpectedly, and no family was found. Gus was taken to the Regional Animal Services of King County to look for a new home. Unbeknownst to RASKC, when they reached out to us to help Gus it was discovered that Gus was actually ours! Gus is currently in a foster home. Several days into his foster stay, the foster noticed that Gus was becoming very itchy. With a little research into the original adoption application for Gus, we discovered that Gus was still being seen by the same vet. We were able to access medical records and found that Gus needs allergy medication. Gus has since visited a veterinary dermatologist in Lacey, where he is being fostered. Medications have been optimized, and a special food prescribed. Gus has a follow up visit soon.
Gus has completed allergy testing and is allergic to pork, several kinds of trees, and insects.
Gus is 8 years old. He loves his people and gets along with other dogs. He was overly interested in the cat in his first foster home so we are recommending no cats. Gus was the only pet in his previous home and we do not know about cats. Gus rides well in the car with a tether. He does not like to be crated. His foster has left him home alone and uncrated for up to three hours with no issues.
Gus loves to go for walks. He may bark and appear reactive when meeting another dog, but he has made great progress in his foster home.
Gus will need to continue allergy meds. He currently eats a special diet food for allergies, but we are hopeful he can transition off soon.
