Note from SBR (for application purposes): Starlight is posted and in our database as Hari since that is the name she came with, however in her foster home she now called Starlight.
Hello, my foster family calls me Starlight because it promises a bright new chapter and they happen to think I’m a little piece of cosmic magic brought down to Earth with a radiance that cannot be dimmed. I tend to agree and I love the idea of being a luminous energy that has arrived to lift the spirits of everyone around me.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I’m 11 years old and ready to retire in peace as the undisputed queen of my castle. I look forward to spending my golden years being pampered and adored. After all I have been through, I deserve it!
I’m searching for my forever home where I will be the only animal, as I do love being the center of your universe. An adult-only home, or one with older children would be ideal … a family dynamic that aligns with my appreciation of a calmand serene vibe.
I don’t really need a fenced yard for romping, as long as you don’t mind taking me out on leash to do my business. I prefer to spend my time curled up on the couch or sprawled out in my comfy bed. I take my relaxation very seriously and I am a champion napper and expert couch potato.
I suppose I can be a bit stubborn when it comes to walks. If you can convince me that it’s a good idea, I will enjoy myself once I get going. It’s the initial enthusiasm that is challenging. So, it’s probably not the best idea to rely on me to motivate you to keep up with your daily exercise routine. I’m more likely to suggest a Netflix binge or some Zen music.
I don’t mind being in my crate for a while, especially if there are tasty treats involved. My favorite is chicken! Mmm … chicken! Oh yeah, as I was saying … sometimes, I’ll go inside my cozy little den for an afternoon nap when no one even asked me to.
While I have an incredibly bright mind, I do have one little cosmic misunderstanding: I believe all throw rugs and bathmats are fancy pee pads just for me. To keep everyone happy, myforever family will need to embrace a sleek, rug-free minimalist look in the rooms where I will be hanging out. Uh, carpeted rooms may or may not be a problem (as my foster mom just pointed out). They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, and that might just be the case in this situation since I grew up in South Korea where I was trained to use a pee pad. I am of the mindset that this predicament is no fault of my own.
So … if you are looking for a lovely senior lady who has perfected the balance of being a total sweetheart with a dash of independent charm, then look no further. Here I am … ready to light up your life!
Please note: Our rescue is foster-based and cannot hold dogs for future adoption due to travel, home renovations, or schedule changes. Adopters must be prepared to welcome their new companion within a reasonable timeframe.
We do our best to ensure every dog is as healthy and prepared as possible, but we ask adopters to understand that rescue dogs may need time to decompress and adjust. They are not perfect — they are simply in need of patience, understanding, and a second chance.
