I'm ready for my new family!

Introducing Jesse!  She is a sweet girl, who was sadly left to wander on her own by the previous owners.  She is now with a loving foster and learning what it is like to live in a home.  Jesse does well with the foster’s other dogs and tries to follow them around outside.  She gets scared if they get excited and start barking, so a home with another quiet dog would be best.  She has not yet been tested with cats or children.  She is still learning the rules of living in a house.  While she pees outside, she hasn’t figured out that pooping should be done outside as well – a work in progress.

Jesse does well on leashed walks especially if she gets to be the leader and choose where to go.  Typical beagle!   She waits nicely for the leash to be put on before going outside and gets in line with the other dogs for treats when she comes back inside. 

She loves the foster’s bed (what beagle doesn’t?) and cuddling with the foster but she also will sleep in her crate.  Jesse is still nervous about being picked up.  Initially, she would run away.  Now when picked up, she is tense, but only for a few moments before relaxing.  Still, she does not like to be held for a long time.  This will improve with time and patience.    

Jesse has been spayed and is up to date with her vaccines.  She is thought to be 5 years old and weighs 24 pounds when last checked.

Please note: Our rescue is foster-based and cannot hold dogs for future adoption due to travel, home renovations, or schedule changes. Adopters must be prepared to welcome their new companion within a reasonable timeframe.

We do our best to ensure every dog is as healthy and prepared as possible, but we ask adopters to understand that rescue dogs may need time to decompress and adjust. They are not perfect — they are simply in need of patience, understanding, and a second chance.
