Meet Josie, an adorable 7 pound, 8 year chihuahua.
Josie and her beagle friend Tipper were living in Tennessee with their owner, when the owner had some hardship and could no longer keep the girls and care for them.
SBR intended to bring Tipper, the beagle. and Josie to our rescue as a pair. Sadly, during the preflight exam, the vet discovered a large mass on Tipper’s liver. Follow up ultrasound revealed additional spleen masses. Bloodwork indicated internal bleeding, The vet said Tipper was in pain and at her stage of disease we could not help her and should let Tipper go peacefully.,
We are committed to help Josie find a loving home. She’s doing well in foster.
Josie is curious and friendly. She is living with several other dogs in foster. Josie would probably enjoy a beagle friend, but she’s doing well with non beagles. Because of her tiny size, no large dogs please.
Please note: Our rescue is foster-based and cannot hold dogs for future adoption due to travel, home renovations, or schedule changes. Adopters must be prepared to welcome their new companion within a reasonable timeframe.
We do our best to ensure every dog is as healthy and prepared as possible, but we ask adopters to understand that rescue dogs may need time to decompress and adjust. They are not perfect — they are simply in need of patience, understanding, and a second chance.
