I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Paddy

I'm Available

Meet Paddy! 🐾

Paddy was saved on from a breeder situation in early October and, at that time, didn’t even have a name. No dog should ever be an “unknown!” When he first arrived, he was so scared and unsure that he tried to dart away from his foster mom, but he’s made incredible progress since then. Despite his rough start, Paddy is an absolutely adorable boy with so much potential.

Here’s a little about him:

  • Age: 3 years old
  • Weight: 30.2 lbs
  • Health: Lyme-positive and anaplasma-positive, but was fully treated. Heartworm-negative and fecal was negative. He was given Sentinel Spectrum for heartworm prevention, flea control, and intestinal health before flying to Seattle.
  • Neutered: Yes, 11/6/2024
  • Microchipped: Yes

Paddy’s Personality:

  • Playful and Adventurous: Paddy is a fun-loving, playful dog who enjoys being the leader with the pack chasing him when playing with other dogs—he loves to be the one they chase. He’s a classic hunting beagle and, once he’s comfortable, he may thrive in activities like scent work. He makes a distinctive grunting/snuffling sound when he’s on a scent, which makes walking him sound like you’re walking a pig! 🐷
  • Leash and Potty Training: He’s working on his leash manners and has improved significantly. He’s also getting better with potty  training, though it’s still a bit of a challenge. He doesn’t quite know how to signal when he needs to go, but if he starts roaming around the house, it’s time to get him outside quickly! He prefers a bit of privacy when he goes potty and likes to hide behind bushes or tall grass when it’s time.
  • Playful with Toys: Paddy has recently discovered the joy of toys! He loves his tuggy-rope and squeaky toys, and while he’ll sometimes drop them to avoid competition, he enjoys the game and the fun of playing. He’s also learned the command SIT and has improved his recall significantly.

Foster Progress: Paddy has made amazing strides since joining his foster home. He’s learned to walk better on a leash and has become much more confident. He’s even learned to be polite around food, not bothering the other dogs when they’re eating. Though he still gets the occasional burst of puppy energy, he’s maturing well with daily walks and positive interactions.

Special Note: Paddy does have a bit of a challenge with his foster’s young adult son. When he first met him, Paddy was frightened by his sudden movements and loud entrance into the room. Now, he sees him as a bit of a “unknown,” baying at him whenever he’s in sight. While this is not Paddy’s fault, he’s still working on learning to trust new people, and first-time meeting protocols will be important for him to adjust in his future home.

Paddy is a work in progress, but with patience and love, he is becoming a wonderful companion. He would likely do best in a home with another dog and a family who is willing to help him continue growing in confidence. He’s ready to find a family who can offer him the understanding and support he needs. Could you be the one to help Paddy experience the world as a delightful place full of love and kindness?
