Meet Phoebe (Purple collar in photos), a sweet and resilient pup who’s ready to find her forever home. Phoebe and her companion Chloe were found just minutes apart in the same area, both very skinny and dirty. They were likely traveling together, though they don’t seem to be bonded to each other. While they get along just fine and enjoy interacting with other dogs, they’re both independent and have been adjusting to life in foster care in St. Louis after being found over 50 minutes away from where they were originally spotted.
Phoebe was first seen over a week ago and, despite being posted, no owners came forward. At her initial vet visit on March 18th, Phoebe weighed only 27.8 lbs. Her vet estimates she’s about 2 years old. She’s now up to date on her vaccinations, tested heartworm negative, and was spayed on April 2nd, as well as now microchipped so she’ll never get lost without a way for her family to find her.
Although we don’t know exactly what happened to Phoebe, her lips were very red and a bit raw when she was found, possibly from trying to root her way out of something. Despite everything she’s been through, Phoebe is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She’s been around kids ranging from toddlers to teenagers and did great with them. She’s also shown a strong love for the outdoors—Phoebe is one of those dogs who loves to sit outside, watching the yard and enjoying the fresh air, as if she’s scouting the area.
While Phoebe is a wonderful, loving dog, we really don't know if she would do well living with cats. She has interacted well at the vet office meeting their cat. Phoebe is looking for a home where she can get plenty of outdoor time, feel safe, and be surrounded by people who will love her and appreciate her unique personality. Could that be you? And are you up for two...Chloe also needs a home and wouldn't it be great for them to continue running a new yard together?
