Smokey is ready to travel to Seattle and join a new family. He is still a bit scared and timid but making progress in his foster home!!! He’s walking on a leash now, especially since he goes out with the 2 resident dogs and they like each other! A young boy in the foster home walks Smokey, talks to him, and is helping him feel loved. Smokey would probably like a child over 10 in his new home. Smokey is people friendly, but sudden loud noises will be scary at first, so very small children might not be best. Because Smokey has lived outside and is used to free roaming, he will be an escape risk at first. A secure fence is a must for this guy. Smokey’s beagle nose will never go away and he will always need to be leashed securely outside of his fenced yard, but with time he will learn that a soft bed, warm house, and regular meals is better than his free ranging life. He would prefer a home with another similar sized confident dog. Smokey is thought to be about 5.
