Meet Tessa – A Survivor with a Gentle Soul
Tessa is a resilient and sweet little Beagle mix who's had a rough start to life. As a stray, she came and went as she pleased, living on her own terms long enough to bring two litters of puppies into the world. All of her babies have since been adopted out, and now it’s finally her turn to find the loving home she deserves.
During her spay surgery, the vet discovered something heartbreaking — a bullet fragment. At some point in her life, this gentle mama was shot. While it’s hard to imagine someone hurting such a kind soul, it’s a testament to her strength that she’s still here, still trusting, and still hoping.
Tessa weighs just over 30 pounds and is about 4 years old. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their company. We’re not sure how she does with children, but with her calm demeanor, we believe she has the potential to adjust well with respectful introductions.
Tessa is up to date on her vaccines, has been fecal tested, microchipped, and received a dose of Heartgard for parasite prevention. She's spayed and ready to start her next chapter in life — one filled with kindness, safety, and belonging. We did learn that Tessa is Anaplasma and Erlechia positive unfortunately but thankfully she’s heartworm negative! She is on medication for Anaplasma and Erlechia so a quick recovery is in sight!
Tessa is looking for a patient and compassionate adopter — someone who understands that rescue dogs come with pasts we may never fully know. They may need time to adjust, to trust, and to bloom. No dog is perfect, but every dog deserves the chance to be part of a family.
Please note: Our rescue is foster-based and cannot hold dogs for future adoption due to travel, renovations, or schedule changes. We ask that adopters be ready to welcome their new family member within a reasonable time.
Tessa has known hardship. Let’s help her know love.
