Wendy is a petite and stunning young beagle, weighing just 21.8 pounds and estimated to be around 1 year old. She was found wandering as a stray in early spring by a kind-hearted Good Samaritan. The children who helped care for her gave her the name Wendy, inspired by their neighbor’s dog, Weenie—because she looked just like her.
Currently, Wendy is living with other similar-sized dogs in her foster home in St. Louis and is doing well with her canine companions. We don’t have information yet on how she does with cats, but we’ll update her profile as we learn more.
At her initial vet visit, Wendy was noted to possibly have a low-grade (0.5) heart murmur. This hasn’t slowed her down one bit, but it’s something her future family may want to monitor as she grows.
Before making her journey to the Pacific Northwest, Wendy will be fully vetted—spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations—so she’ll be ready to start her new chapter with a tail full of wag.
Please note: Our rescue is foster-based and cannot hold dogs for future adoption due to travel, home renovations, or schedule changes. Adopters must be prepared to welcome their new companion within a reasonable timeframe.
We do our best to ensure every dog is as healthy and prepared as possible, but we ask adopters to understand that rescue dogs may need time to decompress and adjust. They are not perfect — they are simply in need of patience, understanding, and a second chance.
